Had a day off and did a bit of House Painting.

*slaps thigh*

Eh? Eh? Gettit? I said I did a bit of “HOUSE” PAINTING!! Meh, suit yourselves…

Tried this one as a direct painting, without any underlying sketch. It’s fairly mild from the point of view of caricature. Got the idea from hearing so many ladies telling me they fancy him. Well, they fancy him as Dr House that is. I never heard of anyone fancying Hugh Laurie in Blackadder or as Bertie Wooster.

Showed caricature to a guy who knows about design/photography.

His comment: “Too finished”.

Wat? Too “finished”?

Done a few months ago for a magazine.

This was my first attempt at an oil painting. I thought it was going well up to this stage where I had the foundation down. I was getting cocky. I was walking around indoors wearing sunglasses like some kind of big-shot artist guy, mere days away from purchasing a beret.

Then later I tried to add colour to the painting and arsed it up totally. Ah well, I’m learning. I consider it a decent start.

This sketch is intended to be the basis of an oil painting I’m planning. I’m hoping to get around to actually painting it sometime before the inevitable heat death of the universe.
